Obtaining your heavy vehicle license at our training centre in Malaga

Each type of heavy vehicle licence has different prerequisite levels of experience. Make sure you read this page thoroughly, or contact us in Malaga, to ensure that you are prepared for your first lesson. Permits are available through the Department of Transport. You are able to start lessons without a permit. 

Light, medium, and heavy rigid (LR, MR, HR) requirements

LR - Must have held a car licence for at least 1 year
MR - Must have held a car licence for at least 1 year
HR - Must have held:

  • A car licence for at least 2 years or
  • A LR or MR licence for at least 1 year.

Heavy combination (HC) requirements

HC - Must have held:

  • A car licence for at least 3 years, and
  • A MR or HR licence for at least 1 year.

Multi combination (MC) requirements

MC - Must have held:

  • A car licence for at least 3 years and 
  • A HR licence for at least 1 year or
  • A HC licence for at least 1 year.

Do you have a current permit?

Please ensure you have a current permit and hold a car licence according to the requirements specific to the heavy vehicle licence you wish to obtain. You must do this before your test is booked in at our Malaga training centre.
